UMAC Announces Week One Player of the Week Awards

UMAC FOOTBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Josh Rathje, Martin Luther College

Rathje caught three passes for 99 yards in MLC's 35-0 win over Maranatha Baptist on Saturday. His 58-yard touchdown catch was the longest of his career, and the longest by an MLC player since 2010.







UMAC FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Austin Stubbs, Univeristy of Northwestern

The senior corner was all over the field in UNW's opener, recording 11 tackles, half of a sack and a pass breakup against the Oles. Of his 11 stops, 1.5 were tackles for loss. Stubbs and company held the Ole offense to just a touchdown and field goal on the afternoon.






UMAC FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Collin Aimone, Eureka College

Aimone punted the ball three times for 157 yards, good for 52.3 yards per punt in Eureka's win over Knox on Saturday.








UMAC MEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Trevor Laroche- Theun, University of Wisconsin-Superior

Trevor scored a goal in each of the Yellowjackets' three games this week. Against Augsburg Tuesday he scored the game-winning goal in the final minute of regulation. He also had an assist in the game. Against Luther Saturday he had the team's only goal, then on Sunday against No. 17 Wartburg he scored the only goal of the game in the 74th minute to help the Yellowjackets win on the road.





UMAC MEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ben Wilhelm, University of Wisconsin-Superior

Wilhelm started all three games on the week for the Yellowjackets and went 2-1. The highlight being a seven-save shutout over No. 17 ranked Wartburg Sunday. Tuesday's win at Augsburg was his first career win, and Sunday's shutout was also the first of his career.






UMAC WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dakotah Sparrman, North Central University

Sparrman scored six goals in her first two games in a Rams uniform, scoring a program record four goals in North Central's season-opener against Finlandia before adding two more at Bethel.







UMAC WOMEN'S SOCCER DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bailey Henderson, University of Wisconsin- Superior

Henderson tallied 13 saves for the Yellowjackets in the season opener against St. Catherine.








UMAC MEN'S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Anton Svensson, University of Wisconsin-Superior

Svensson shot an 80, which tied him for second place, one stroke off the winning score at the Saints Triangular Tuesday. He then followed that up with a 2-over par 74 at Friday's UMAC Preview, good enough for a one stroke victory at the event.







UMAC WOMEN'S GOLF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Paulina Dejamco, Crown College

Dejamco won the UMAC Preview event with a score of 86, five strokes ahead of the runner-up.








UMAC MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Chalmer Combellick, University of Minnesota Morris

Finished eighth at the Augustana Twilight race and was the top NCAA Division III finisher, running four miles in a time of 19:32.78.







UMAC WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY RUNNER OF THE WEEK
Casey Hovland, College of St. Scholastica

Hovland just missed winning the Tom Barry Invitational on Saturday as she was edged by seven-tenths of a second at the finish line by winner Megan Ludke of Carroll. Hovland posted a time of 18:34.3 on the the 5km course. The second-place finish is the best of her career.






UMAC VOLLEYBALL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Marissa Ekness, University of Minnesota Morris

Eckness was named to the UMM Invitational All-Tournament Team averaging 4.39 kills per set. She had a career high 20 kills against Bethel. She also added 2.82 digs per set on the week.







UMAC VOLLEYBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Katie Reitsma, University of Minnesota Morris

Reitsma was named to the UMM Invitational All-Tournament Team averaging 5.41 digs per set. Katie had a career high 27 digs against Bethel and had 23 digs in three sets against Simpson.







UMAC VOLLEYBALL SETTER OF THE WEEK
Brooke Decker, University of Minnesota Morris

Decker was named to the UMM Invitational All-Tournament Team after averaging 9.82 assists and 2.29 digs per set. She had a career high 41 assists against Bethel and averaged over 10 assists per set in three of the final four matches of the week.
