ST. PAUL -- One senior, two juniors and two sophomores comprised the 2012-2013 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Women's Basketball All-Conference First Team. The University of Minnesota Morris and Northwestern College were each represented twice on the list while the College of St. Scholastica had one representative named to the five person team.
Minnesota Morris' Emily Mehr headlined the five first teamers that also included teammate Kendra Wycoff, Northwestern's Mollie Sir and Chanel Madson as well as 2013 UMAC Tournament MVP Erin Frase of St. Scholastica. Mehr was voted as the 2013 UMAC Player of the Year following a standout senior season that included leading the league in points per game (19.9) while leading the Cougars an undefeated conference record and regular season championship.
Bethany Lutheran College, the College of St. Scholastica, Martin Luther College, Northwestern College and the University of Minnesota Morris each had three individuals selected in the total of 17 UMAC All-Conference awards distributed to the first (5) and second (5) teams and an honorable mention squad (7).
Minnesota Morris' Kayla Kraemer won the UMAC Freshman of the Year award after earning a spot in the starting lineup and contributing an average of 9.7 points per game. Kraemer's head coach, the Cougars' Tim Grove, was voted coach of the year by his colleagues after Morris won at least a share of the UMAC title for the fourth consecutive season.
