DULUTH, Minn. – St. Scholastica junior Brett Tester (Andover, Minn./Andover HS) became the first CSS men's basketball player to be named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/Capital One Academic All-District 6 team; it was announced on Thursday.
Tester was one of five Division III men's basketball players selected in the region and is now eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Tester has a4.0 grade-point-average and majors in Accounting and Finance. On the court, he currently leads the team, averaging 18.1 points per game, which is also third-best in the conference. Tester is also averaging a team-high 7.4 rebounds per contest.
Earlier this season, he became the 10th St. Scholastica men's basketball player to record over 1,000 career points when he did against Northwestern College. He is currently ninth on the program's all-time scoring list.
Tester is the third Saint to earn Academic All-Region honors this school year as volleyball's Nikki Hughes and football's Sean Graskey earned the accolade in the fall.
The CoSIDA/Capitol One Academic Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
The teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the first year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moves from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and doubles the number of scholar-athletes honored. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
St. Scholastica is included in District 6 and includes NCAA Division III institutions from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.
