MINNEAPOLIS -- The College of St. Scholastica won its fourth consecutive UMAC Men’s Tennis Tournament on Saturday after taking eight of the nine singles and doubles flights at the Baseline Tennis Center on the University of Minnesota campus. The Saints won all but the No. 3 singles flight en route to earning 26 points in the tournament which was easily good for first place. St. Scholastica has now won 11 of the 14 conference postseason tournaments since the event’s inception in 1997.

The Saints’ No. 1 singles player in Dillon Sterle came away with championship medals in both singles and doubles competition. After teaming up with partner Brendan Anderson to claim the doubles title on Friday night, Sterle came back to beat Martin Luther College’s Scott Henrich in a singles super tiebreaker in singles action before fending off Northwestern College’s Caleb Kauss in a second set tiebreaker in the championship match. Northwestern’s Jeremiah Schneck was the only non-St. Scholastica player to win any of the nine flights as he bested the Saints’ Brian Lindberg.

Northwestern placed second in the tournament with 18 points while Martin Luther was a distant third at eight points.
