St. Scholastica and Minnesota-Morris clean up all-conference awards in indoor track and field
ST. PAUL – The University of Minnesota-Morris and College of St. Scholastica not only cleaned up at the UMAC Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday; they also claimed 15 of the 23 all-conference awards that were handed out.
The Cougars’ Todd Gramenz earned Track Athlete of the Meet honors, while Tom Lysico of the Saints was given the Field Athlete of the Meet award. Gramenz won the 55-meter dash, the 200-meter dash and was a part of the relay team that won the 4x200-meter race. Lysico earned his award after taking first in both the weight throw and shot put.
St. Scholastica scored 206 points in the meet to win the conference championship. Minnesota-Morris was second with 153 points, earning Cougars head coach Jeremy Karger-Gatzow UMAC Coach of the Year honors.
Morris led all teams with eight all-conference recipients, while St. Scholastica followed with seven awards. North Central University received five honors and Northwestern College had a trio of all-conference award-winners.
