Dr. Cureton promotes NCAA Division III on media tour

Dr. Alan Cureton, president of Northwestern College and chair of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Presidents Council, was one of seven individuals to represent the NCAA on a recent media tour promoting the association’s Division III Identity Initiative.

Men's Cross Country
Nick Mangan – SR | College of St. Scholastica
Nick Mangan finished 49th at the UM-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational this weekend, posting a time of 25:28.00. With this time he set a new St. Scholastica record for the 8K, beating the old record by 46 seconds.
Women's Cross Country
Jessie Lovering – SR | College of St. Scholastica
Jessie Lovering set a personal best for the second week in a row. Her time of 22:41 earned her 33rd place out of 575 runners at the UW-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational this weekend.
Football Offensive
Todd Gramenz – JR | RB | University of Minnsota, Morris
Todd Gramenz collected two rushing touchdowns in the Cougars' 35-33 win over Northwestern. The junior had 37 carries for a total of 190 yards, averaging 5.1 yards per carry. His longest touchdown run was 30 yards.
Football Defensive
Mike Minehan – JR | S | Eureka College
Eureka's Mike Minehan totaled 20 tackles in a 36-14 loss to Crown College. He also had 0.5 tackles for loss.
Football Special Teams
Luis Diaz – FR | K | Greenville College
Greenville's Luiz Diaz made a 41 yard field goal and five extra points in Greenville's 50-7 win over MacMurray. He also averaged 32.0 yards per punt and 63.4 yards per kickoff.

Matt Johnson – JR | MF | University of Minnesota, Morris
Matt Johnson scored one goal and recorded three assists last week, including a five-point day in a 6-0 win over Northland College.

Jimmy DuTremaine – SO | D | Bethany Lutheran College
Jimmy DuTremaine's defensive leadership has helped the Vikings to a four-game winning streak. Last week Bethany Lutheran was 3-0 including two shutouts in which DuTremain was instrumental in shutting down the opponent's offense.
Women’s Soccer Offensive
Joelle Pipal – JR | MF | Bethany Lutheran College
Joelle Pipal became Bethany Lutheran's all-time points leader with 63 points after recording a goal and two assists in a 5-1 win over Crown College. The junior was instrumantal in helping the Vikings to a 2-1 record for the week.
Women’s Soccer Defensive
Rachel Harstad – SR | D | University of Minnesota, Morris
Rachel Harstad led the Cougar back line that allowed just 13 shots in two games, and only five shots on goal. She helped Minnesota-Morris to a 1-0 overtime shutout against Northland, allowing just three shots and no shots on goal.
Volleyball Offensive
Chelsea Koth – JR | OH | Northwestern College
Northwestern's Chelsea Koth led the Eagles to a 3-0 week, averaging 4.78 kills per set. Northwestern didn't drop a set all week, and Koth hit 0.485 with 16 kills against Bethel University and 13 kills against Martin Luther College.
Volleyball Defensive
Nikki Hughes – JR | L | College of St. Scholastica
Nikki Hughes propelled St. Scholastica to a 3-0 week, including a 3-2 win over No. 10 UW-Oshkosh. The junior averaged 5.16 digs per set and recorded 28 digs against UW-Oshkosh. She also posted a 0.949 serve reception percentage while not committing a service error all week.
Volleyball Setter
Leah Kostek – SR | S | Northwestern College
Leah Kostek guided the Eagles to a 3-0 week, averaging 13.7 assists per set. The Eagles hit 0.300 for the week, while beating all three opponents in straight sets. Kostek also collected 2.22 digs per set.
