ST. PAUL -- Six women and three men recently earned recognition from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) after being named to their scholar all-region teams.  All nine individuals represent not only the UMAC, but also member-institutions College of St. Scholastica and the University of Minnesota, Morris.

St. Scholastica's Toby Peter and Minnesota-Morris' Patrick O'Connor were both named to the second team, while Morris' Jeff Lind was selected to the honorable mention list.  On the women's side, St. Scholastica's Cortney McKenzie and Minnesota-Morris' Madelyn Gerbern were each honored with third team accolades.  The Saints' Gabrielle Arrowsmith, Elizabeth Flesvig, and Jennifer Krokum were honorable mention selections, as was the Cougars' Amber O'Connor.

Scholar-athlete awards are based on student-athletes meeting a rigorous criteria that includes a minimum of a 3.30 cumulative grade point average.  Candidates, who must be of junior or senior academic standing, must have started more than half of all games and be a significant contributor to the team's soccuess.

Earlier in December, both the Minnesota-Morris and St. Scholastica women's soccer teams received the NSCAA College Team Academic Award.  For St. Scholastica, it was the team's10th in a row.
