ST. PAUL -- With the conclusion of the NCAA Division III college football regular season, Martin Luther College and Greenville College have won their respective UMAC North and South Division Championships.  Both teams posted undefeated records in division play to earn UMAC trophies.

For Martin Luther, their division crown in 2009 is the school's first conference championship since 1998, when the Knights shared the league title with Mount Scenario and Maranatha Baptist Bible.  Greenville, who was one of four teams to join the UMAC as an associate member for football beginning in 2009, won its first conference title since sharing the SLIAC Championship in 1999.

Beginning in 2010, the UMAC will forego the divisions it had for one year, as all nine teams will be a part of one conference and one division, battling for one league championship.  2011 will also be a big year for the UMAC, as Presentation College, one of the eight members who compete in the conference's 10 fully sponsored sports, has indicated it will begin a football program.  The UMAC is also expected to receive its automatic qualifier (AQ) into the NCAA Tournament in 2011.
