North Central, Minnesota-Morris win UMAC men's and women's golf titles
The North Central University men and University of Minnesota, Morris women battled through rain, wind and cold weather all weekend to emerge victorious at the UMAC championship golf tournament at the Alexandria Golf Club in Alexandria, Minn.
Olson, Siemens headline UMAC Golf All-Conference Awards
In association with the completion of the UMAC men’s and women’s championship golf tournament on Friday and Saturday, the league announced its all-conference awards for 2009.

Men's Cross Country
Evan Nelson - FR | Northwestern College
Evan Nelson placed 100th at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational on Friday, running a time of 29:53 to beat his former personal best by 3:37.
Women's Cross Country
Nicole Heinz - SR | Northwestern College
Nicole Heinz eclipsed her previous personal best by over 10 seconds, running the course at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational in 28:44.
Football North Division Offensive
Christopher Henagin - SR | RB | College of St. Scholastica
In a 35-27 win over Crown, St. Scholastica's Christopher Henagin rushed 32 times for 272 yards and two touchdowns, which is a Saints record.
Football South Division Offensive
Daniel Eidson - SR | QB | Westminster College
Westminster's Daniel Eidson completed 21 of his 36 passes for 308 yards and six touchdowns in a 47-14 win over Haskell on Saturday.
Football North Division Defensive
Matt Kramer - SR | DL | Northwestern College
In a 31-7 win over Macalester, Northwestern's Matt Kramer helped his team hold the Scots offense to 40 rushing yards, tallying 11 tackles and a sack. Kramer also forced and recovered a fumble in the game.
Football South Division Defensive
Garrett Young - SR | LB | Greenville College
Garrett Young posted 10 tackles, including a half-tackle for a loss, and an interception in Greenville's 20-13 win over Eureka.
Football North Division Special Teams
Kyle Thomforde - SR | KR | Northwestern College
Kyle Thomforde's 86-yard kick return for a touchdown added to his total of 235 all-purpose yards in Northwestern's 31-7 defeat of Macalester. Thomforde, a wide receiver, also had a 68 yard run for a touchdown in the game.
Football South Division Special Teams
Daniel Eidson - SR | P | Westminster College
In Westminster's 47-14 win over Haskell, Daniel Eidson punted four times for 183 yards, averaging 45.8 yards per punt. Eidson, whose long punt on the day was 59 yards, had one punt inside the 20-yard line.
Men's Soccer Offensive
Brandon Spanier - SO | F | Presentation College
Brandon Spanier helped Presentation go 1-0-1 last week, scoring three goals to go with an assist for seven points.
Men's Soccer Defensive
Alex Vandenberg - SR | GK | Martin Luther College
In a 1-0-1 week that included two shutouts, Martin Luther's Alex Vandenberg recorded 10 saves, playing 200 minutes without allowing a goal.
Women's Soccer Offensive
Sarah Strobino - SR | F | Northland College
Sarah Strobino was largely responsible for Northland's offensive efforts in a pair of wins last week, collecting seven goals on nine shots including five goals against Presentation. Strobino also added an assist to her week's resume.
Women's Soccer Defensive
Katie Renner - SR | GK | Bethany Lutheran College
In two games last week, Katie Renner had 17 saves while allowing two goals. Several of Renner's saves kept Bethany Lutheran in its games.
Volleyball Hitter
Chelsea Koth - SO | OH | Northwestern College
In a pair of UMAC wins last week, Chelsea Koth averaged 3.86 kills per set and a .270 attacking percentage in seven sets. Koth led Northwestern in kills in both matches.
Volleyball Defensive
Chelsea Lundgren - SR | MB | Northland College
In a 3-1 week for Northland, Chelsea Lundgren had 15.5 blocks in 15 sets. Lundgren had nine blocks alone against Northwestern.
Volleyball Setter
Natalie Thomas - SO | S | University of Minnesota, Morris
Natalie Thomas helped Minnesota, Morris win both of its matches in UMAC play last week, averaging 8.5 assists per set while the Cougars hit .132 as a team.
